✍ FYI: F.lux - Better Lighting for your PC

For Your Information...
F.lux - Better lighting... for your computer.

This app is already 2 years old but it's worth mentioning again.

You know how it goes - texting at night with that eerie blue colour glowing in the background.

Or awake during the middle of the night with a great idea and go to turn on your PC only to get blinded by your computer screen or awake anyone else in the room.

We all know too much glare from the computer screen can cause fatigue on the eyes.

During the day, computer screens look good—they're designed to look like the sun. But, at 9PM, 10PM, or 3AM, you probably shouldn't be looking at the sun.

This is where F.lux comes in.
F.lux makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.  F.lux makes your computer screen look like the room you're in, all the time. When the sun sets, it makes your computer look like your indoor lights. In the morning, it makes things look like sunlight again.

F.lux is an application which adjusts your monitor's color temperature throughout the day, warm at night and brighter during the day

This app is not recommended (at the moment, but they claim to be working on a solution),for a designer or artist or someone who relies on accurate screen color (though you could use the Disable for one hour option).

But now you can fall asleep better without being over stimulated or just browse late at night without fear of waking anyone up or even better yet... burning the hell out of your eyeballs!  Check it out!

By the way, if it asks for your latitude at any point, here's a tip I came across while reading about this app - search for your nearest major town or city in Wikipedia and you'll find it!

This free utility is available to download for Windows XP/Vista/7, Mac OSX, and Linux
