✚Helpful Hints - #1

HEALTH and WELLNESS
BUY SMALL BOTTLES OF OLIVE OIL
Once opened, the oil's disease-fighting antioxidants become 40% less effective after six months, even when stored properly in a cool place, reports the Journal of Food Science.

SWEET WAY TO SOOTHE SOAR MUSCLES
Drink chocolate milk!  The proteins and carbs in milk repair muscles faster after exercise, while the chocolate contains compounds that refuel muscles, reports the Journal of Applied Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism.

BEAUTY and FITNESS
HALT  WRINKLES WITH BEER!
A study of twins revealed that the twins with the youngest complexions indulged in an alcoholic beverage daily, and beer and wine were the clear anti-aging winners.  Polyphenols get the credit, say scientists.  Both beverages are packed with these potent antioxidants, which quickly soak up skin-damaging free radicals, the cause of 80% of premature skin aging.
Not a drinker you sayEat half a cup of polyphenol-packed blueberries or raspberries instead.

LOOK GORGEOUS IN PHOTOS!
Having your picture taken?  Lift your chin an inch or so higher than you normally would.  Your neck will look longer, and the flash will bounce off your face, washing away dark circles.

HOME and AUTO
MOTH-PROOF YOUR CLOSETS!
Looking for a way to keep nasty moths out of your woolens?  Cut off the leg of a clean pair of pantyhose and fill the foot with crushed peppercorns.  Tie a know around the ankle, then tie the stocking to a hanger.  The spicy scent repels insects and is a great nontoxic alternative to mothballs.

THAT WIND IS A REAL DRAG
That cool roof rack or bike rack is costing you dearly if you carry it around when it's not being used. Wind resistance is greatly increased when you add an "extremity" to the carefully sculpted shape of your car or truck.

Remove the roof racks, racing wings, sports flags, extra ladders or tools, or anything else that is protruding from your car or truck. Keep your car clean, and even wax it for the smoothest finish possible to slice easily thru the air.

FOOD and DRINK
AVOID WASTING SAUCES IN JARS
Hate it when that container of sour cream or jar of applesauce goes bad before you get to the bottom?  Next time simply store it upside down in the refrigerator.  Doing so forms a vacuum that helps it stay fresher longer, meaning you won`t have to throw food - and your money - in the trash!
Worried about leaks?  Place the upended container or jar in a bowl!

STOP THE SINK!
To prevent nuts, chocolate chips or raisins from sinking to the bottom of cakes during baking, toss them in a little flour before adding to the batter.
