For Your Information...
Checking Your Speed!Have you ever wondered if you were really getting the upload and download speed that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) claims to offer? Well wonder no more. There is Speedtest.net to the rescue!
Speedtest.net puts the most sophisticated broadband testing and analysis tools into the hands of anyone interested in finding out just how connected they actually are.
Things like web-browsing, checking emails, or using Facebook or Twitter does not consume a large amount of bandwidth. However downloading movies, large files or watching YouTube videos one after another, can consume a very large amount of bandwidth. If you aren’t on an optimized and fast connection, file downloads and video streaming may take ages.
If your ISP promises you a certain speed and you've checked on Speedtest.net, and it's not what they promised, you can always switch to another Internet service provider who will provide more speed and bandwidth.
Just start by going to Speedtest.net and press on that big button that says BEGIN TEST. This site requires Adobe Flasher player of course, in order to work.
When the speed test is complete, you will be shown the results of the test, as shown below:
Their free service opens hundreds of testing locations around the world to anyone curious about the performance of their Internet connection. You can use their service to view your service's performance history, then share and compare with others near you - or around the globe.
It is recommended that you perform around 5-6 speedtests, writing down the numbers each time, then averaging them out to get a more accurate reading of the approximate speed your Internet Service Provider is providing.
Whoa! Nou DAT is snel!
