Personality Insight: What Does Your Ringtone Say About You?

What Does Your Ringtone Say About You?

Usually, when I go shopping at the mall, or have to go the airport or any public place for that matter, you are almost always guaranteed to hear a mobile phone ringing some kind of tune or sound.  Are you a natural comedian, an entertainer, maybe someone with class or even a bit cool?  Well, you better watch out because someone might be able to figure this out just by listening to your ringtone, lol.  There are many different types of ringtones to choose from and each says something different about you. Some ringtones are simply a sound effect, or a monophonic melody made of similar tones. Others are polyphonic melodies made from a combination of instruments. Still others are actual songs in the form of MP3 music. What does YOUR ringtone say about you?

Well according to Forbes.com, a research was done by the U.K.-based carrier Tesco Mobile, indicating that people do judge mobile users based on their ringtone. They surveyed 1,000 customers and discovered that 21% of them thought having a standard ringtone was "uncool." The survey also concluded that people who use their own recorded voice as a ringtone are self-obsessed, and that users who constantly change their rings might be flighty and unreliable. This all seems 'self-explanatory to me!'

So anyways...

  • If your phone plays a classic rock tune, you're showing your age, but you get points for figuring out how to change the ringer, Gramps.
  • If your phone is still playing "Jingle Bell Rock" in July, you're not going to impress people with your productivity.
  • If your ringtone is a current hip-hop or R&B hit, you're young at heart, but you're not particularly original. Hip-hop ringtones accounted for more than half of the $300 million U.S. market in 2004.
  • If your phone plays the sound of an old mechanical phone bell, you're not as funny as you think you are. But also, you're down-to-earth and not a show off, - that's just my opinion...
  • If your phone plays the theme song to a television show, you're not going to impress anyone with your intellectual acumen. Perhaps a Mozart or Beethoven ringer would do some damage control.
  • If your phone never leaves vibrate or silent mode, you may be the kind of important person who can't afford to waste time answering a phone call right now. Or maybe you just think you're that important. However, you may also be considerate and respectful, the kind of person we'd like sitting behind us in a movie theater. (or on an airplane...)
  • Unfortunately, we tend to get saddled with seatmates whose phones play the popular "Crazy Frog," the clucking chicken, or any number of other annoying animal noises. If you're one of these folks, you may be a sociopath.
So the next time your ringtone goes off, you might want to think twice about your choice of sounds.....

Personality Insight: What Does YOUR Favorite Dog Say About You

What Does YOUR Favorite Dog Say About You

.
I don't know, it seems the more and more I observe, the more and more I notice the type of dog you have can say alot about the type of person you are.  People with an outgoing, happy-go-lucky personality seem to have dogs that are just like them and people who are more serious have dogs that 'seem' to be less playful or active but more of, let's say, a guard dog of sorts.  Anyways, at PetPlace.com, they had their version of What Does Your Dog Say About You that I found quite 'amusing'.  They did 50 dog breeds but I will only do the more popular ones here.  You can go there to see your dog breed if it's not listed here
Bloodhound - Bloodhound owners are laid back and truly enjoy life in their own calm way. They like to sit and listen to the sounds of nature and the beauty of the earth. They can always be relied on to help anyone in need. Looks aren't important to them; it is the character and soul that matters. Favorite TV show: Missing.

Personality Insights: What Does YOUR Favorite SNACK reveal about the real YOU?

What Does YOUR Favorite SNACK reveal about the real YOU?

Quick:  Would you rather dip your chip in salsa or guacamole?  The answer reveals tons about your personality!  says behavioral food expert Juliet Boghossian, author of the forthcoming book, Food-ology: You Are How You Eat.  In tracking the tastes of more than 5,000 people, she found an 87% correlation between snack habits and certain traits.  In fact, her research is already being used by human resource experts and marketers to help them evaluate job candidates and consumers - all based on what they put on their plates!

You're a Dreamer!
"Sweet craving mean you enjoy opportunities to daydream, forget problems and fantasize about what -ifs."  And since the love of sugar is psychologically tied to childhood, you are likely a trusting soul, says Boghossian.  Artistic and inventive, you need a lot of downtime to recharge your batteries.  Rather than rush through life, you savor every moment, taking time to smell the roses - and maybe even create a gorgeous arrangement while you're at it!

You're a Born Leader!
For centuries, women have been taught to eat small, quiet meals - so it's not surprising that crunch-lovers tend to be nonconformists unafraid either to be seen or heard eating!  This confidence makes you stand out and galvanize others, whether you're strategizing shopping trips or planning parties.  And even when you're not at the front of the pack, your boldness has everyone believing your abilities.

You're a Risk Taker!
A preference for fiery foods reflects a higher threshold for stimuli and adventure.  and since capasaicin, the heat-packing chemical in spices, literally gets your heart pumping and raises your metabolism, peppery foods help fulfill your subconscious desire for excitement.  Passionate by nature, your willingness to take chances also means you're a powerhouse on the work-front.  Not surprisingly, says Boghossian, "these women often make great entrepreneurs!"

You're a Peacemaker!
"A preference for smooth, creamy snacks reflects a deep need for the same tranquility you give to others," says Boghossian.  These foods do the trick by spiking levels of serotonin, the happiness chemical, so you feel blissfully serene!  A natural diplomat, you bring a balanced perspective to everything you do, whether you're quashing a sibling squabble or getting friends to see eye-to-eye.  And understanding other points of view doesn't mean you lack opinions of your own:  It just means you don't force them on anyone!

You're a Maverick!
You really are one of a kind!  According to Boghossian's research, very few people are wired to love bitter and sour foods - and those who do show a preference for the unusual in other aspects of life as well.  "You're aware of your unconventional tastes and pursue them confidently," she says.  Truthful and observant, you never let anything get in the way of speaking your mind.

Personality Insights: What is YOUR Party Personality?

'Tis the season for sequins, socializing and the most special party night of the year!  Whether you like your New Year's Eve celebration cozy and intimate or grand and guest-packed, your party preferences reveal much about your personality.  "Parties are microcosms of live, reflecting everything from how we approach relationships to our appetite for risk-taking," explains personality consultant Neil lhde (lifeiq.com).  Read on to discover what your New Year's plans reveal about you!

You're an inquisitive extrovert!
Exuberant and talkative, "the more the merrier" is your motto!  Yet as outgoing as you are, you're also a deep thinker with an impressive knowledge base, says Ihde.  The reason?  Highly inquisitive, you can't help learning a little something about all your interests, from asteroids to zoology.  That's what makes  you such a delightful conversationalist.  With your flair for the dramatic as well as the intellectual, is it any wonder you're on everyone's A-list?

You're a free-spirited adventurer!
A thrill-seeker down to your bones, you'd hop a plane just to chase midnight across multiple time zones and ring in the New Year repeatedly!  Yet while you thrive on the unexpected, you count on your loved ones to keep you secure and balanced.  "People with this free-spirited style tend to create strong support system that gives them a soft place to land when they return from their travels," says Ihde.  It's the reason your welcome-back parties are full of friends hanging on your every word!

You're a super-charged leader!
From making sure everyone has a noise cracker in hand at midnight to offering your lactose-intolerant friend a soy nog, nobody throws a better party!  A born leader, you'll tap into any resource to guarantee your revelers feel right at home.  It's a trait that makes you the family rock and an inexhaustible font of ideas for whatever project you're heading up.  so when it comes to the phrase "the life of the party," you can be assured it's an almost literal description of you!

You're an intense romantic!
If you shy away from sardine-squeezed crowds in favor of sofa celebrations for two, it's because you're passionate and keen on nurturing intimate relationships.  In fact, your ability to focus completely on whomever you're with makes him or her feel like a star.  But like most fiery personalities, you need a little downtime from all that intensity.  "You value your personal space and respect everyone's need for the same," says Ihde.  and getting the solo space you need ensures you'll have the energy to make your next party a smashing success!

Personality Insights: What Does YOUR Favorite ZOO ANIMAL Reveal About You?

When you visit the zoo, are you drawn to the roaring intensity of the lions and tigers or do you prefer the quiet majesty of the elephants and giraffes?  Whichever you prefer, one thing is sure:  Your choice reveals a lot about your most human qualities.  "We all feel a connection to certain wild animals - it's a primal attraction that speaks to our core characteristics," says psychologist Donna LaMar, Ph.D., who specializes in animal-assisted therapy at The Farm in Fremont, Michigan (livingfarm.org).  Read on to discover the personality traits reflected in your favorite zoo animal!

IF YOU PREFER...

Elephants and Giraffes
YOU'RE AN ADVENTUROUS LEADER!

Far from the big-game hunters on safari, you're an adventurer of a different stripe, looking for experiences instead of prey.  "The sheer size of elephants and giraffes is daunting to most people - but to you, it represents your wildly varied interests," explains LaMar.  bold and strong-willed, you're also a great leader who's always up for a challenge!

Bears and Polar Bears
YOU'RE A MYSTERIOUS NURTURER!

Like a mama bear, you're a fierce protector of loved ones - but just as approachable as a stuffed teddy!  Maybe that's why you relate to children as well as your peers.  Generous as you are, you also need time to yourself - much like hibernating bears.  And while your kind heart may be plain as day, you still keep a mystique swirling about you!

Seals or Walruses
YOU'RE A PLAYFUL CHARMER!

Adorable, with a penchant for tricks, these seagoing charmers mirror your own easygoing spirit.  "You love sports just as much as high-brow cultural events - because both arenas capture emotion and encapsulate life," says LaMar.  In other words, you not only fit in everywhere, but you're also the life of every party!

Crocodiles or reptiles
YOU'RE A FREE-SPIRITED ARTIST!

Physically, they're the least like us, so a love of reptiles means you're someone who looks for appeal that's more than "scale-deep."  It's no wonder you tend to be a highly creative, out-of-the-box thinker.

Apes and monkeys
YOU'RE A SUPER-SMARTY!

Like our ultra-clever and always sociable primate cousins, you're as introspective as you are outgoing.  It's a duality that shows how complex and confident you really are.

Lions and tigers
YOU'RE A SENSITIVE INTROVERT!

It's not the outgoing folks who are attracted to look-at-me lions and tigers - it's more often the most soft-spoken.  "You're drawn to the big cats because they represent the wilder part of yourself," reveals LaMar.  Just like the queens of the animal kingdom, you exude a regal, sophisticated persona.  Quiet, but sure of your own voice, you're as captivating as the most majestic of cats.

Personality Insights: What Does Your Shopping Style Say About You

What does YOUR Shopping Style say about you?

Do you hit the supermarket with a list in hand and a mission in mind?  Meander the mall until that "it" item strikes your fancy?  Never met a trend you didn't love?  Whatever your retail strategy, one thing's for sure:  It's as indelible as the last shopping list you wrote in ink!
According to Anastasia Toomey, lead author of a surprising new study that tracked the habits of more than 3,000 women, there are four specific shopping styles that are "part of our DNA," she says, remaining unchanged no matter what stage of life we're in.  and just knowing your style can help you shop savvier - and save more!

You're a pragmatist!

Confident and self-assured, you're never swayed by gimmicks.  "You buy what works for you and your family, and you're the most loyal of customers," says Toomey.  As mother, friend, wife and co-worker, you're the heart of everything, maintaining a bustling
lifestyle that requires a one-stop-shopping experience.
  • SHOP SAVVIER:  Make your brand loyalty work for you by targeting stores with lifetime guarantees like L.L. Bean.  If a zipper breaks on a bag, for example, they'll replace it for free no matter how long ago you bought it!

You're a thinker!

You know that saving doesn't mean shunning the finer things in life.  But what sets you apart is your foresight and intelligence, so "when a special occasion pops up, you already have that perfect dress in your closet," says Toomey.  Achieving this smart balance extends beyond your wardrobe, making you the creative problem-solver at work and the cool head that prevails in your relationships.
  • SHOP SAVVIER:  Sign up for e-mails from a wide variety of stores; promotions that might overwhelm a lesser shopper's inbox are just more opportunities for you to find an amazing coupon!

You're a trailblazer!
From that exotic tea you picked up at the health-food store to the scarf you found at the flea market, your choices are always adventurous, prompting friends (and the occasional stranger!) to ask: "Where did you get that?"  Inquisitive and creative, you're on top of every new craze in an effort to avoid your biggest enemy: boredom!
  • SHOP SAVVIER:  Log on to websites like kaboodle.com or thisnext.com.  There you can post your latest finds and search through listings of like-minded trendsetters!

You're and enthusiast!

A social spark plug, for you shopping is a reason to get together with friends!  Highly verbal and passionate, you hold up your end of conversations as easily as you hold on to your many shopping bags.  And even though you're an avid consumer, you prize the things money can't buy above all!
  • SHOP SAVVIER:  Plan an outlet excursion so you can socialize and save money!  Your boundless energy is the perfect  match for outlets that demand patient bargain-hunting.

Personality Insight: What Do YOUR Hands Reveal About You?

What do YOUR Hands reveal about you?

Your eyes may be the windows to your soul, but your hands are the windows to your personality!  The ancient Gypsies discovered this centuries ago, when they assigned each of the four hand shapes its own element (earth, fire, air and water) to go along with certain traits - and modern science backs them up!  "The same processes that develop your brain also develop your hands, so their shape reflects your neurochemistry," explains hand analyst Baeth Davis (handanalyst.com).
Ready to learn the secrets in the palm of your hand?  If...

YOU HAVE AN
Earth Hand!
As sure and unwavering as the Earth itself, you are the personification of loyalty.  That's why when you take hold of something, you  don't let go until you've accomplished what you set out to do.  "You also have a meditative, introspective quality about you," says Davis.  In fact, having such proportionate hands suggest you're an even-keel thinker with a keen sense of perspective:  No wonder you take life by the horns!

YOU HAVE AN
Air Hand!
Intellectual and razor-sharp, you and your long fingers "are almost literally reaching for more knowledge - in fact, your curiosity is unquenchable," says Davis.  An abstract thinker, you have the touch of a poet, and if you're sometimes as moody as an artist, it's because you're just as complex, with a discerning eye that allows you to make trendy finds at the flea market as well as the corner boutique.  Mysterious as air itself, you're happy to learn new things - and happier still when your reach exceeds your grasp!

YOU HAVE A
Fire Hand!
"People with little hands are usually up to big things - so many, in fact, you tend to have five pots boiling at once," proclaims Davis.  In other words, you're a multitasking maven as passionate as your element suggests.  To you, challenges are the kindling that keeps you going.  In fact, you journey through life like a concert pianist travels up and down the scales - fast, sometimes furiously, but always hitting every note to perfection!

YOU HAVE A
Water Hand!
Palmists call yours a "psychic hand," which, in more scientific terms, means you tend to be a visual, highly intuitive thinker.  You are attuned to the invisible, but powerful vibrations emitted by all life.  Sensitive and charming, you're a people person, able to get along with just about anyone because you understand human nature so well.  As flexible as your dexterous fingers, you're what Davis calls a "seer," blessed with an insightful personality.

Personality Insight: What the Color of Your Car Says About You

What the color of your car says about you.

The color of your car reveals a lot about you: your personality, your moods, and even how satisfied you are with your life.

Yes, your fiery orange-red sports car says exactly what you think it does: you're sexy, speedy, high-energy, dynamic. Before you preen, go out and look at your red car.

Most red cars on the road are more of a kidney bean color. Is yours? If so, it means you are dynamic and energetic but are losing your fire. You really want to be have that orange-red sports car personality, but you just can't quite make it. You're too busy, too old, or too tired. For all the good your red car does you, it might as well be brown.

A silver car generally means that you are cool and elegant. The only problem is that since silver was the most popular car color for several years, almost everyone owns one, like your neighbors who don't mow their lawns and don't put their garbage cans away after the garbage has been picked up. Real cool. Very elegant.

What he really means:
Silver cars represent prestige, wealth and luxury. The newer and shinier the car, the more this will come across.

White is supposed to mean you are fastidious, but what it really means is that you wanted that fiery orange-red sports car, but you drive like a bat out of hell or like batman in his batmobile, (depending on your age group) and you were afraid that you'd get too many tickets so you chose the less conspicuous white. Good thinking. On average, while drivers in red cars do not get more tickets than anyone else, orange-red sports car drivers do, and let's face it, they deserve them. Who drives the speed limit in a car like that?

What he really means:
There are many white cars on the road. What they say about their owners has a lot to do with their upkeep. A clean white car shows that you pay attention to detail. You are careful and pure. A dirty white car makes you look sloppy and indifferent.

A light blue vehicle means that you're calm and quiet. It could also mean that you went to the showroom to buy a sunshine yellow car to show how joyful and young-at-heart you are, but they only had marine blue, and since you really are a calm, quiet person who doesn't like to make waves, you bought it.

What he really means:
If your car is light blue you are serene and peaceful. You also have a strong maternal instinct.

A dark green vehicle means that you are traditional, trusty, and well balanced, but what it really means is that you are thrifty. Who makes dark green cars anymore? If you own one, it's probably been a while since you bought a new vehicle.

What he really means:
Green is the color of nature. The person who chooses a green car is conscientious. They tend to be the go-to person in tense situations because they know how to keep their emotions in balance.
A purple vehicle means you are creative, individualistic, original, and perhaps it does. It could also mean you're too old to care what anyone thinks of you.

What he really means:
This is the color of royalty. If you have found a purple car you are a cherished individual who loves beauty, but walks with strength and purpose.

A black vehicle says you are empowered, not easily manipulated, love elegance, and you appreciate the classics. It's also says that you are mysterious or that you have two sides to your personality; it's the favored car of both clergy and gangsters.
What he really means:A slick black car is the epitome of power and authority. Think CIA or Secret Service. If you have a black car, you are sending the message that you are in control and are self-assured.
A dark blue vehicle says you are credible, confident, dependable. And you drive too much because you always get stuck with the carpool.
What he really means:
If your car is dark blue you are likely a very loyal person. You value relationships over wealth and you are calm.
A gray vehicle says you are sober, corporate, practical. And boring. But if that gray car is charcoal with sparkles, you still have flashes of brilliance and charisma.
What he really means:
Although gray often represents the dreary and depressing in clothes, furniture and paint, that is not the case with your gray car. A gray car is a comfortable one. It represents stability and self-reliance.
An orange vehicle says you are fun loving, talkative, fickle, trendy. A yellow-green one says you are trendy, whimsical, lively. And you know it's true. Only fun and whimsical cars come in these colors: Volkswagon bugs and little sportscars.
What he really means:
An orange vehicle is exceedingly hard to find. If you have an orange car you most likely crave attention. You are also generally a happy and upbeat person who enjoys being unique.  If you drive a yellow car you are confident. You like to have fun and you embrace the child within.

A tan vehicle means that you're timeless, basic, simple, but it also means you have something to hide. Maybe bad driving habits? Or that you never wash your car?

A gold vehicle says is that you love comfort and will pay for it; it also says that you're intelligent, and you must be - you were smart enough to come read my article!

What he really means:
A gold car represents wealth and pride. If you have a gold car, you likely want to be noticed. You want people to know you do not lack  financially and you are independent.

And a brown vehicle supposedly means you're down-to-earth but who are you trying to kid? If you really cared about the earth, you wouldn't have bought that big old gas-guzzler.

What he really means:
If you have a brown car that signifies that you are reliable. You are true to yourself and to those around you. You are earthy and don’t engage in “showboating.” You are approachable, responsible and worthy of friendship.

So what color of car do I drive? I'm sorry, but I don't know you well enough to answer such a personal question.

So he says, but I`ll tell you what color car I drive - black.  But my next car? I don't know... maybe a deep purple or deep blue or deep burgundy, or maybe a nice silver or ...  as long as it's not bright! I guess I'm getting too old...
