What better way to discourage bear attacks than to make the bear think you've already been eaten by another bear!?
Yes, that's right folks, there was a sleeping bag invented that not only looked like the real thing but once inside it, it looked like you were eaten alive by the real thing, lol.
The creative Eiko Ishizawa was inspired to create this sleeping bag when back in 2006 he heard news about a bear in Bavaria which escaped from the Italian side of the Alps to the Bavarian side. He was called a problem bear, as he was the first wild bear since 170 years. The bear evoked huge discussion among people and government whether they should kill or leave him alive - but in the end he was hunted down. The bear generated many different ideas and emotions in people as illusions in reality just by crossing the borderline between countries.
So, in keeping with his unusual talent of mixing fantasy with reality while throwing in a bit of humour, Eiko created The Great Sleeping Bear ... sleeping bag. This way, he says, one will have the experience of transitional discoveries such as finding a bear, realizing a little human face in his mouth and recognizing details and shape.
Now, I thought this was so cool and all since I love to go camping in the great outdoors and trying out unique things, but then I started thinking, this bear sleeping bag looks so damn realistic that what if I woke up one night, you know, all hungry and started hopping around in it looking for food. Someone might mistake me for the real thing and shoot me! Or worse yet, a bear might mistake me for the real thing and may want to... you know, settle down for the night...
